I was attack by 2 pit bull dogs around 10:00am on August18, 1988 while delivering mail and have had chronic pain every since. After being examined by medical doctors, psychologist/psychiatrist, physical therapist, occuptional and ruemotologist, I was finally diagnoised a year later in 1989 that I had Fibrositis/Fibroyalgia. I felt like no one understood me or took me serious when explaining my sypmtoms. The medical profession basically brushed me off made me feel like it was in my head or I making it up. Family and friends didn't understand. People would said stupid remarks such as; you don't look sick. I believe the medical community didn't take this serious until it took men complainig about the symptoms. Before fibro, I was very energetic, outgoing ambitious person. Today, I very seldom do much outside the house. This winter I have had been sufferng more with muscle cramp/spasms the entire season. I have gain 40 lbs in the last 4 months. No one in my family has the syndrome and none of my friends. My family and friends are so active it is hard sometimes impossible for me to participate in gathering/functioins.
